Have watched this show for years, but not in a while. Was shocked with this episode… Dr. Taylor Marshall is wrong, the contracts that USCCB has with the federal government is not to deal with “Illegal Immigrants”, a refugee is a legal immigrant. He and many others are mistaking a refugee for someone coming through the southern border illegally and seeking asylum… that is not a refugee. Please, look at the facts, we should be a church that is focused on building each other up, not tearing each other apart…. Please, look at the definitions of what a refugee is and all the refugees that Catholic Charities has resettled legally over the years has done so across multiple administrations and done so legally! The situation on the border and people crossing illegally is not what the USCCB is contracted to deal with…. Even the vice President got it wrong by calling refugees illegal immigrants…. that is not the case. Ryan got it right at the beginning of his description, however, in addition to a refugee fleeing violence, they do not enter the US or any other country without first doing so by following a rigorous legal background check process that takes many years….By the way, I agree with the discussion you had regarding the border….but that is an entirely different discussion than the one regarding the refugee resettlement program…
