Hi guys, just listed to you show on the the Litany of Humility.
I discovered the litany this year and for Lent I “prayed” every day (I have an hour drive every morning, at 6:30, and it is a good quiet time to reflect on things like the litany). It is the now the first thing I do on Monday morning.
As always when I listen to your show, I learn something and also am entertained during my drive (you guys I usually listen to on the drive home when there is more traffic and thoughts on my mind).
For me, the first four “fears” humiliated, despised, rebukes and calumniated, remind me of Mathew 5:11, “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me.” You guys have a podcast and you faith is out in public, but I know that sometimes I don’t say something when I should. If I interject something in a conversation that goes against the norm, I will be insulted, or taken for religious freak, or such thing. The Litany reminds me that I shouldn’t be afraid of this. That I should do it as it will make me rejoice and be glad. Don’t know if that makes sense. It has helped me to be more aware of things I do where I could be more humble.

Just a quick throw on, years ago I came across (St.) Isaac the Syrian, and he has some wonderful thoughts on humility.

    Thanks for your time,
