I hope you and your families are staying safe and healthy during this pandemic. Thank you for a fascinating podcast that was overflowing with information that needs to be re-visited again. It was too much to consume all at once and I intend to listen to it again to research unfamiliar terms. For one thing as Fr. Elias pointed out, you need hours of learning just to cover in general the full history behind the split. You can’t even get the gist of it in 60 minutes. I would like to see the return of the learned Fr. Elias and only one or two specific subjects covered. This makes more sense. As I said too much was thrown at us all at once. Ryan Scheel and Fr. Rich love to show off their intellect but it is usually the wise Ryan Dellacrosse who asks the best questions for the rest of us or the secular audience. Yes indeed RD it is a complicated subject with a ‘byzantine’ background. Pardon the pun.
I did learn there are 23 Eastern rite churches in addition to the Western rite churches. Most are broken down ethnically. The Roman Empire administration became difficult so there was an administrative split between their Eastern converts and their Western converts. A social, political split made between Constantinople and Rome essentially. Each church has its own church calendar and favorite saints and apostles based on their history and experiences. There was interaction between St. Francis so he is shared. St. Nicholas is claimed by the Eastern churches.
All the New Testament was Greek and I learned that from my prized Oxford University Teaching Bible, until St. Jerome wrote the Latin Vulgate. I like calling Jesus by his Hebrew name Yeshua (Joshua) as it sounds so very loving.

This is one of the best talk show here!! Its better to keep bringing such people for interviews or talk show. It has enlarged my understanding of Catholic churches. Most people only know about the Roman Catholic church. Bring back Father Rafaj again because I see like there is more to learn here. Can you put some of this discussions in writing? Thank you.
