Thank you for making the important distinction between priests not being able to get married versus married men may be ordained (per the tradition of several of the Eastern Catholic Churches, & even on a case-by-case basis in the Roman Catholic Church). Priests called to celibacy & married men who are ordained each possess unique gifts & experience unique challenges according to their state in life as celibate vs. married. The host says that every married priest he has ever spoken to said that being a married priest is not a good idea. I think his is a narrow experience. As an Eastern Catholic, some of the most pastoral, dedicated, humble, traditional, & zealous priests I have known were married. My own spiritual father is a married man with 9 children (convert from Anglicanism). Oftentimes it is that unique role as a married priest which entails sacrifices & sufferings (sadly, those sufferings sometimes come from how he is treated by celibate brother priests) that make the depth of his spiritual fatherhood very fruitful.
