I am so glad you played Ave Maria! My favorite. Thank you. Loved it for years. Love you guys. I love the way you play off each other. Great personalities together. I found you by accident and I am so glad that I did. Keep watching episodes every day. That’s my routine after my prayers. Trying to catch up on all of them. Thanks again for all you do. I appreciate you guys. God bless. Patty
The Ave Maria you just played is not what you think it is: it is the secular “Lady of the Lake” love song that was used later by the Church when the real words of the Ave Maria, gratia plena ….. were inserted. I am a church musician of 62 years – so i have some credentials here!
Play the real one and be even more transcended to the higher realms!
Good show!
Fr. Bill Dinga ordained 1975.
When you played Immaculate Mary, I was instantly taken back to grade school at Ss. Peter and Paul in Merrillville, IN. Sang that every Monday morning!
I love how the music sparks memories!

These are hymns not songs
That’s the right word – HYMNS is indeed the word…. songs are all the others
Hi guys,
My favorite song/hymn was done by Cat Stevens, Morning Has Broken about Genesis and God’s creation of the world. Then almost every Christmas hymn ever written, especially the Messiah. Everything else comes in third place for me. O Night Divine is a divine hymn that brings a tear to my eye every time. Adeste Fidelis is another. Oh Come Emmanuel is so very Advent even if it pre-dates Jesus. A call to Christ. Silent Night is simply divine literally and figuratively. It is incredibly beautiful and the story behind who wrote it is so inspiring.
As far as your list, Ave Maria is over-worked I think. Yes, it is beautiful but it is sung at every funeral practically. You hear it everywhere else besides. A bit much for my taste. I love Salve Regina however, and that is popular too. Immaculate Mary brought me back to my 12 years of Catholic School. Panis Angelicus is definitely lovely and was written by St. Thomas Aquinas, the doctor of Angels. I had not known he wrote music! I love learning something new every day. This was today’s tidbit or piece of spiritual trivia learned.
I like the Honorable Mentions of Be Not Afraid sung, How Great Thou Art with Elvis, Were You There by Johnny Cash and Dark Was the Night I had never heard of before. Interesting. The background story was so sad.
Excellent episode!! Excellent idea for an episode. Thanks guys!!
Sorry, but as an Austrian I have to say, that Silent Night is NOT a german song. Rev. Joseph Mohr was an austrian priest, living near Salzburg.
I attended Sacred Heart in W. Cov., CA. Novus but my home Church!! Served Mass as a youth. Now in PA. With my 80 yo Dad, we go to Latin Mass at St. Michael The Archangel Church.
I have such a Love for the second Ave Maria song, yes,yes I remember making a crown 👑 as did all the students and this song is goose bump worthy. My FAV. is Ubi Caritas, makes me cry with joy… I didn’t know why I was crying and filled with JOY!! You can have all the money in the world, but will not have the RUSH of LOVE that engulfed me means way more than ANYTHING I’ve ever felt!!! AMEN to you and yours!! Se Bene Diga 🙂 J Craig
Can you give the actual names of the songs you’ve selected with the composer. I’m trying to get printed piano arrangements for each song, but I’m not familiar with all the details of each song. I would like to pursue copies of the music. Thank you!!
