    Hi guys,
Fr. Rich let it all hang out. We will listen! My whole response to this podcast will be tongue-in-cheek just as a disclaimer.

Your vocation is a tough one inherently. It is 24/7 as far as on call with 12-16 hour work days most weeks. I am one of your fans for all the good works you perform.

When I was a kid in Catholic School I was always totally curious about what nuns and priests did during the course of a week when they weren’t with us. The curiosity came with the uniform. Also, when I was a kid a young nun and young priest ran away together and got married. The kids were talking heads about this scandal for months. We weren’t surprised however as they were seen together quite often. Now that I am an adult I realize that neither really had a vocation. It is too bad they found this out after their final vows. I often wondered who married them.

Yes, Fr. Rich, we do all act differently when faced with a clerical collar. I want to prove you’re human and there are those who want to prove the opposite. Then there are the phonies who want to impress you thinking you have an inside straight to God. I too thought Fr. Rich was on for the 18-25 demographic as he keeps his beard well kept and his hair slicked. You have to ask yourself does Jesus care? LOL!

I agree with you guys there are too many ways to get in touch with people. If you are online anywhere people will find you. There are lonely and scared people out there who want the reassurance of a priest that they are okay and/or not going to Hell. Especially we chronic sinners. You ‘Three Amigos’ are a good mix and Scheel is one smart cookie. I think Fr. Rich should get a St. Bernard. One with a keg around his neck. I agree Ryan Scheel he does have 6 days to take care of a dog. Look what God accomplished in 6 days. Give me a break. No excuse. LOL!

Monday morning quarterbacking on the liturgy is an excellent and astute observation RS! I am sure there are those who can’t wait to jump in on the homily. Irritating yes, but everything you throw out there to others they will pick up. That’s the other side of the coin. The Eucharist aside I enjoy the readings and the homily almost always. Very rarely am I asleep with my eyes wide open. If the homily sucks I think about the content of the readings instead, or contemplate the Eucharist. As a kid the nuns told us to sit quietly and behave as God was watching and listening. When I hit Central Catholic High School we called our teaching nuns the Gestapo. One disciplinary nun we nicknamed Hitler.

Too bad you can’t afford me, coupled with the fact that I do live out of state, but I would be a good organizer or administrator for you freeing you up for your more priestly duties. Actually, I could donate my time. Part of giving back to God. Of course, I could do a lot online except for walking the St. Bernard. LOL!

    Favorite religious jokes:

Remember the first computer dates back to Adam and Eve. It was an Apple with limited memory, just one byte. And then everything crashed. Atheism is a non-prophet organization. And, Moses was leading his people through the desert for 40 years because even back then men hated asking for directions. LOL!

This was one funny episode and you guys were essentially stand up comics. You needed this session Fr. Rich! Venting is good for the soul as well as mentally therapeutic. God has a wicked sense of humor just take a look at us for proof of this statement.

    Stay safe and stay healthy,
    Andrea

This was absolutely great. I have a brother who is a priest and 4 other brothers who could have razzed him very much like you guys, so it was basically our kitchen table growing up, except for the collar added years later. I have a lot of respect for the demands of the job. You were built for heavy lifting!

  2. I just want to thank you all for educating us in things we never really think about. Thank you so much! You guys are awesome, amazing! God bless you all!

LOL! I must say, I laughed at the comment about Mike Schmitz…his Ask Fr. Mike videos are ‘pretty’ popular hahaha…great show, y’all! 💯😁🙏

  5. Faith says:

Thank you for this podcasts! I’m not a clergy person, but due to just being a polite/kind individual, I’ve been verbally attacked as I’ve gotten older; that I’m fake, etc. The talk amongst each of you in this podcast helped me think and believe differently at certain kinds of backlash comments. I found the back and forth dialogue refreshing and also informative from a layperson’s perspective.

  6. Father Rich, you have no idea how you have enriched and grown our parish since you came aboard! You are truly an asset in bringing love and spirituality to all of us at St. John Paul II.
